¿Qué es Pasión por la lectura en la Feria Internacional del Libro Monterrey?

Pasión por la lectura se une a la Feria Internacional del Libro Monterrey para ayudar a alcanzar su objetivo: vincular la institución académica para impulsar la conversación pública. De tal manera que, a partir de realizar actividades en distintos campus pertenecientes al Tecnológico de Monterrey, poder ampliar el alcance y ofrecer a distintos públicos la experiencia.

EAAD

School of Architecture, Art and Design

The School of Architecture, Art and Design (EAAD) at Tecnológico de Monterrey is present on 19 campuses throughout the country and its faculty members include experts in their respective disciplines, teachers with degrees from the world’s top 200 universities and visiting international faculty.

EAAD’s degree programs and areas of study offer students a unique college experience that let them actively participate in major forums with strategic projects based on three core areas: Cities, to tackle land-use challenges and improve people’s quality of life; @rts, to promote experimentation and artistic production, and drive the human development of our students and Design for Value, to motivate companies to focus on innovation through creative leadership both in terms of design and entrepreneurs.

EAAD

Escuela de Arquitectura, Arte y Diseño

La Escuela de Arquitectura, Arte y Diseño (EAAD) del Tecnológico de Monterrey cuenta con presencia en 19 campus a nivel nacional y una facultad constituida por destacados perfiles en cada una de las disciplinas, docentes graduados de las Universidades Top 200 del mundo y profesores visitantes extranjeros.

Las carreras y áreas de estudio de la EAAD otorgan a sus alumnos una vivencia universitaria única, que les permite exhibir en foros nacionales e internacionales proyectos estratégicos basados en sus tres iniciativas principales: Ciudad, para abordar los desafíos de los territorios y mejorar la calidad de vida de las personas; @rtes, para promover la experimentación, la producción artística y contribuir al desarrollo humano de los estudiantes y Design for Value, para motivar a las compañías a innovar, por medio del liderazgo creativo en el diseño y a los emprendedores a desarrollar.

Overview

Dr. Aguilar is one of the leading authorities on the pathophysiology, treatment and actions for the control of type 2 diabetes and dyslipidemias in Mexico. His main contributions include: Participating in the identification of new genes involved in the physiopathology of Familial Combined Hyperlipidemia; being part of the team that carried out the first genome-wide study designed to identify the genetic variants that modulated plasma lipid levels in Mexicans; assisting in the identification of the R230C variant of ABC-A1transporter (a variant-specific for Amerindian populations) as a determinant of the concentration of HDL cholesterol in Mexicans, among many others.

Since 1996, he has been deputy chief of the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism of the National Institute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition (Mexico) and has been coordinator of the Ethics Committee of the National Institute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition since 2012. He is also a member of the National Academy of Medicine and has held positions such as director of examinations of the Mexican Board of Endocrinology and president of the Mexican Society of Nutrition and Endocrinology.

He is a Level III researcher by the National System of Researchers and Level F by the National Institutes of Health, with a prolific scientific production that amounts to more than 250 articles published in peer-reviewed and/or indexed journals, and more than 7 thousand citations. His main lines of research are the study of the pathophysiology of primary dyslipidemias, the epidemiology of type 2 diabetes, the development of predictive models of type 2 diabetes and its comorbidities, and the characterization of the mechanisms by which some genetic variants are associated with type 2 diabetes.

Dr. Aguilar joined Tecnológico de Monterrey as Distinguished Visiting Professor in Epidemiology at the School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
