Graduate Policies and Norms

Graduate Policies and Norms

Since its foundation, Tecnológico de Monterrey has defined the regulations that guide its students, regarding the expected academic standards and conduct both inside and outside the classroom.

In this way, the Institution, committed to academic quality, disseminates its governing regulations among students and the community, within the framework of the principles and values described in the Mission.

Graduation Requirements

In order to obtain a specialization diploma, master’s degree, medical residency degree or doctoral degree atTecnológico de Monterrey, students must have:

1. Fulfilled, in accordance with the regulations in effect, the preliminary academic requirements for the corresponding curriculum, by means of the corresponding placement exams, proficiency tests or remedial courses.

2. Obtained an undergraduate degree–after completing high school or its equivalent - that is equivalent to those offered by Tecnológico de Monterrey.

3. Completed all the courses in the curriculum in question, either by passing all the courses at Tecnológico deMonterrey, or obtaining revalidation or equivalency agreements, consistent with the corresponding regulations, for part of the courses studied at other institutions, and passing the remaining courses at Tecnológico de Monterrey. Courses studied at foreign universities with which an agreement has been signed will be considered, for the purposes of this article, as having been studied at Tecnológico deMonterrey, as long as they do not exceed a specific percentage of the curriculum stipulated for each program in particular.

4. Obtained a final grade average for all the courses included in the curriculum equal to or higher than 80. In order to calculate this average, all the courses completed corresponding to the student’s curriculum will betaken into consideration. Therefore, preliminary or remedial courses and those passed by means of proficiency tests are excluded from the grade average calculation.

5. Completed, when stipulated in a curriculum, a research project or thesis that was presented and passed in an exit exam before an academic jury. The result of this exit exam will be recorded in the student’s records by means of an act signed by the corresponding academic jury.

6. Studied at Tecnológico de Monterrey at least the equivalent of the second half of the corresponding curriculum, in the case of students who have obtained revalidation or equivalency agreements for this level. This rule can be flexible in the case of graduate programs that are created in conjunction with other universities by means of an agreement.

7. One scientific product from the research conducted within the doctoral thesis published or accepted for publication, in the case of doctoral programs. The scientific product(s) will be defined by each graduate school.

Academic Calendars

Educational Artificial Intelligence Strategy

At Tecnológico de Monterrey, we use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to transform the way we teach and learn, promoting the development of professionals who integrate AI into their discipline. Our approach is centered on three key strategies:

Foundations of AI to empower human abilities:
We aim for students to develop key AI-related skills—such as critical thinking, ethics, and innovation—to enhance their performance in a world where AI is increasingly relevant.

Leveraging AI for teaching and learning processes:
Preparing and supporting faculty is a priority. Our strategy includes training activities, exploration spaces, and innovation initiatives that help educators become familiar with AI tools and design learning experiences that integrate these technologies. We offer a wide range of development opportunities, from introductory courses to specialized bootcamps.

Development of professionals who integrate AI into their discipline:
We strive to ensure that our students graduate with the ability to use artificial intelligence technologies specific to their field of study.

AI and our faculty

The integration of AI into teaching and learning represents an opportunity for faculty to innovate and transform their teaching practices. The goal is to better prepare students for their future careers, address their learning needs and interests in a personalized way, and optimize professors’ time. To ensure the effective use of AI, faculty engage in continuous professional development.

Through the Center for Faculty Development and Educational Innovation (CEDDIE), Tecnológico de Monterrey supports its professors in integrating artificial intelligence into their teaching practice. Practical resources, webinars, expert talks, workshops, hackathons, summits, and gatherings are offered to foster the development of key competencies and tools for designing learning experiences.

In summary, CEDDIE is committed to advising, supporting, and training faculty in the strategic use of AI, focusing on three main areas:

  1. Integrating artificial intelligence into the design of learning experiences.
  2. Enabling students, through their professors, to develop competencies for using AI in their field of study.
  3. Fostering creative ideas that improve various aspects of the educational process through this technology.

Adaptive Learning

Adaptive Learning at Tec de Monterrey

At Tec de Monterrey, we use Adaptive Learning Strategies to personalize education. This involves applying modern teaching methods, data analytics, and advanced AI algorithms to design customized learning paths for each student. This approach makes their educational process more effective and efficient by taking into account their level, profile, and specific needs.

Additionally, this strategy allows teachers to identify areas where their groups may be struggling, enabling them to adjust their teaching methods, improve student performance, and optimize overall outcomes.

This tool is part of our initiative to ensure student success, helping them level up their knowledge from the start of their academic program, especially in STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), which are often crucial during the early stages of their education
