Bioengineering and Regenerative Medicine


We are dedicated to the study, isolation, expansion and characterization of stem cells–from hematopoietic and adipose tissue– for its use in regenerative medicine programs.

The group has an extensive experience in the development of differentiation protocols for specific cell lineages. This cells therapy, through autologous transplantation, is used by our group to improve the quality of life of patients suffering chronic degenerative diseases of the nervous system such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and Parkinson’s disease. We are recognized as a world reference in the ALS therapeutic approach. In the near future, preclinical models in animals will be ready to support the use of these cells in diabetes mellitus treatment.
