Genomics Core Lab

Core Lab: Genomics

¿Qué es el Core Lab de Genomics?

It is the Laboratory where Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) is performed. Its vision is to contribute to strengthening research, knowledge generation, and transfer in Mexico through the generation and analysis of applied genomic data in various areas such as clinical medicine, genomic medicine, agribusiness, food, disease diagnosis, environmental sample study, genomic epidemiology, among others.

To learn about the bioinformatics analysis services, please refer to the email tecbase@servicios.tec.mx.

¿Por qué colaborar con Core Lab Genomics?

It is the only national laboratory with Illumina technology, allowing a wide diversity of samples for sequencing.

. It offers diversified sequencing services, including whole genome, exome, RNA-Seq, single-cell sequencing, shotgun metagenomics, 16s Metagenomics, targeted fragment sequencing, and environmental DNA sequencing.

Operational model that facilitates service to external researchers, with competitive prices in Latin America thanks to agreements with Illumina.

Competitive international delivery times, with highly trained specialists to execute projects in a robust, efficient, and reliable manner.

Capacity to handle custom projects in various areas such as food, medicine, agricultural industry, and diagnostics, based on the experience of the Core Lab team.

International Mobility of Students

  • Temporary International Tec Students

  • Reports and Publications

Our international programs offer unique experiences and the opportunity to come into contact with different cultures and discover that commonalities far outweigh differences. Each culture is unique, and this experience is enriching anywhere in the world. At Tec de Monterrey, we educate leaders with an entrepreneurial spirit, a sense of humanity and who are internationally competitive. Therefore, as part of our internationalization strategy, we have worked on forging solid relations with hundreds of universities across the planet. To date, we have entered into more than 746 agreements with foreign universities in over 50 countries that are available to you.

A fundamental part of internationalization takes place on the campuses, thanks to the presence of students from every corner of the world. The multicultural environment, which contributes enormous value to the global vision of the Tec de Monterrey community, is the result of the presence of students from more than 70 countries who take classes at the institution’s diverse campuses.

At Tec de Monterrey, we aim to understand and apply artificial intelligence (AI) in education, seeing it as a key driver of innovation. We focus on helping our students develop both cross-disciplinary and specialized AI-related skills, preparing them for diverse professional and workplace scenarios, always from an ethical perspective.

Through research, education, and collaboration across disciplines, we promote AI-driven innovation, equipping our faculty and staff to use it efficiently and responsibly, ensuring a positive impact on our institution and community.

Our philosophy is to use AI ethically, respecting human dignity, promoting integrity and autonomy, and ensuring a safe environment aligned with our institutional values, addressing challenges and opportunities with agility.

Discover the World of AI: Beyond Fiction

We’ve all likely heard the term “artificial intelligence,” but do we know what it means? AI aims to develop technologies that perform complex tasks through skills such as reasoning, problem-solving, understanding language, and analyzing data. UNESCO describes it as a set of tools that mimic or even surpass some human capabilities, such as creativity, language, and logical reasoning.

How does it work? AI is based on key principles: learning from data (machine learning), processing information through artificial neural networks, and optimizing decisions to make them more efficient. Thanks to these principles, AI systems can identify patterns, adapt to new situations, and improve their performance over time, mimicking some aspects of human thought processes.

From ANI to AGI: AI That Transforms

Are there different types of AI? Are they the same? What are they? Artificial intelligence (AI) is divided into two main types: Artificial Narrow Intelligence (ANI) and Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).

Artificial Narrow Intelligence (ANI)

ANI, the type of AI we use today, is designed for specific tasks like playing chess, driving cars, or answering questions. It relies on technologies such as machine learning, neural networks, and optimization. It also uses tools like symbolic logic and knowledge graphs to organize information. An example of this is ChatGPT, which processes language and answers questions naturally.

Artificial General Intelligence (AGI)

On the other hand, AGI aims to match human intelligence, but this remains a work in progress. This goal aspires for machines to possess cognitive abilities similar to or even more advanced than humans

Are there different types of AI? Are they the same? What are they? Artificial intelligence (AI) is divided into two main types: Artificial Narrow Intelligence (ANI) and Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).

Inteligencia Artificial Estrecha (ANI)

Inteligencia Artificial General (AGI)

Por otro lado, la IA General (AGI), busca igualar la inteligencia humana, pero es un objetivo que todavía está en desarrollo. Esta aspiración busca que las máquinas tengan habilidades cognitivas similares a las de los humanos, o incluso más avanzadas.
