Outliers - Carlos López Lizárraga
There came a point in my life when I had to make an important decision: choosing between accepting a senior management position at the age of 26 in a company in Brazil or pursuing a master’s degree with the economist I most admire in the world as a thesis professor, a decision that would change my life forever.
Hi, my name is Carlos López and I am an expert in Financial Market Operations, Author and Speaker.
I was never someone who was dedicated to only one thing; I have always loved getting out of the traditional spectrum and diving into whatever life has to offer me. Throughout my career, I have faced various obstacles and, like anyone else, I have made mistakes; the difference is in the way you view them.
During my years of working in the area of markets and business, I realized that sometimes it is you yourself who is the main obstacle in your career and that mistakes are only part of the problem.
I graduated from Tecnológico de Monterrey as an Electronic Systems Engineer in 2004. My student years were very enriching. I was able to follow my musical passions in a number of campus projects, such as “ExpresaTec,” and perform in various musical presentations. Moreover, Tec’s multidisciplinary education allowed me to develop my entrepreneurial sense and become interested in the field of business. I started working at a Japanese school and later had a franchise of this same school. Then, while working in a software company, I was offered a position in a large company in Brazil.
When I jumped at this great opportunity, I didn't even speak Portuguese, but that didn't stop me and, with the best possible attitude, I tried my very hardest. I did extremely well, so much so that at 26 years old I was offered the position of Chief Executive. At the same time, I was given the opportunity to go to Italy to study a master’s degree with the economist I most admired in the world. I had to make a decision. but I knew what I had to do.
I traveled to the newly founded Sophia University Institute to start my Master's in Economics. There, I had the privilege of meeting Luigino Bruni, the economist that I admire so much and, moreover, he was my thesis supervisor. None of this could have been possible without the support of my parents, family, mentors and friends.
I am currently a Financial Market Consultant and Operator, and there is nothing I would rather do, it is my great passion.
I can work anytime, anywhere in the world; all I need is a computer and an internet connection and I'm all set. This has given me time for myself, which has even enabled me to write a book: "Nobody knows how to invest," exclusively on Amazon. Publishing my book was a surprise because that was not my initial objective; it was a personal finance and investment model that was born with the aim of helping others to see this world in a simpler and easier way. But as we know, the world can be unpredictable.
I am an Outlier because my story starts at Tec and ends up changing the world.
