Arturo Fuentes - Outliers
Hi, my name is Arturo Fuentes, and I am a member of the NFL Design Team in Mexico. My story starts when I transferred from Tec High School Campus Chihuahua to Tec Campus Monterrey to pursue my undergraduate degree. I studied architecture and during those years I fell completely in love with my degree. As a matter of fact, when I started, I hadn’t imagined myself doing this; in fact, I didn’t even know that this world existed. Ultimately, we are the product of our experiences and now I am the product of my decisions.
I started out in architectural design temporarily rather than permanently, and here I am five years on, doing what I love in gigantic sporting events.
Ever since I started my internship, I met people who became very important for my growth; my father and my grandfather never stopped believing in me. I have known how to make the most of all the opportunities and difficulties.
I have faced and that led me to become an Associate Architect at Populous, a global firm specialized in sports architecture, the first to bring an NFL game here to Mexico
I currently work in the offices located in Denver, in my second year as Design Director, and the youngest ever to reach this position in the company. Something that fills me with pride is my participation in the Super Bowl, not just regarding what I did, but also my team together with me.
I love knowing that at the end of the day, I will be pleasantly surprised at being in the design process to find creative solutions; it is like being part of something big.
The same applies to my other two passions. When I have some free time, I enjoy playing music and practicing karate. When I arrived in Denver, I practiced karate competitively to qualify to the US national team, and when I can’t compete, I serve as a judge.
But the whole of my story doesn’t start here; my story began a long time ago … I am an outlier because my story begin at Tec and end up changing the world.
