The objective of the B.A. in Economics program is to train professionals with solid knowledge in economic theory, competent in the application of quantitative tools for the analysis of economic models and specialized in the analysis and design of economic models that can be applied in the optimal allocation of the physical, financial and human resources in the corporate, government, social and financial sectors. Its graduates have a multidisciplinary and technological training that allows them to provide strategic and innovative responses to economic problems so that society reaches higher levels of economic development.
Competencies
- Analyze individual, business and government economic decision-making models, based on the interpretation and analysis of economic variables.
- Evaluate economic policy proposals, based on economic theory tools aimed at generating greater growth and reducing poverty and inequality.
- Generate solutions to problems that involve the efficient use of public and private resources, based on quantitative models.
- Assess market failure in diverse contexts, examining its origin, impact and mitigation measures.
- Analyze individual, business and government economic decision making, considering preferences, budgetary restrictions, and possible risk or uncertainty scenarios.
- Propose solutions to relevant economic and financial problems, using technological innovations to generate greater competitiveness and growth.
- Develop economic research projects, using quantitative and qualitative models.

Exploration
- You will open your competency file and add to it throughout your degree program.
- You will learn the foundations of the area of Social Sciences.
- You will participate in fundamental and exploration challenges from the area of Social Sciences, interacting with peers from different degree programs.
- You will study general education courses, selecting them from a collection.
- You will participate in a challenge that integrates all the competencies to be developed in this phase.
Focus
- You will acquire the core competencies of your degree, in other words, those that distinguish it.
- You will participate in more focused challenges to reinforce what you have learned and broaden your basic knowledge.
- You will have the elements to decide whether to deepen your knowledge or diversify and, subsequently, build your specialization plan.
- The Tec Weeks, challenges and overall university experiences will enrich your file.
Specialization
- You have decided between diversifying or focusing deeply in your major, which you will achieve by choosing a concentration or a stay, to name a few of your options. The TEC Semester is a flexible time to start.
- You will develop the competencies related to your specialization, increasingly connected to your passions, interests and plans.
- By passing a concentration, you will develop your competencies, and, on graduating, will be a candidate for obtaining a Diploma in that concentration, after meeting the established requirements.
