The IFE Flagship Projects are strategic institutional initiatives that have been shaped and refined with input from the International Advisory Board. They embody the Institute’s commitment to systemic educational transformation through innovation, collaboration, and global engagement.
Executive Program for Higher Education Leaders (in collaboration with the University of Pennsylvania)
This initiative, developed in partnership with the University of Pennsylvania, aims to empower university leaders in Latin America with the essential tools, mindsets, and networks to lead institutional transformation. The program features in-person and virtual modules focused on innovation, sustainability, and leadership. Its goal is to develop higher education institutions that are prepared for the future across the region.
IFE AI Nexus
A collaborative research and innovation hub focused on artificial intelligence and learning analytics in education. It enables large-scale pilots, joint research, policy guidance, and training to help institutions integrate AI into teaching and learning in a responsible and effective way—leveraging the infrastructure of IFE and Tecnológico de Monterrey.
Skills Hub
Skills Hub is a platform designed to close the skills gap between education and the labor market. It supports governments, industries, and universities with skills forecasting, short-cycle program design, and policy development. The initiative combines data, research, and partnerships to foster inclusive upskilling and reskilling ecosystems across Latin America.
FAIR Learning Model - El Camino
A hybrid learning model that combines AI-powered tutoring via WhatsApp with human mentorship to support vulnerable segments of the population. Initially piloted in Monterrey, it has demonstrated strong engagement and learning outcomes. The IAB identified El Camino’s potential for massive scalability as a low-cost, high-impact solution to advance educational equity.
Global South EdTech Network
This initiative aims to identify, adapt, and scale educational technology solutions for Latin America and developing economies. It builds a collaborative network to address shared challenges through research, open innovation, and a validation marketplace. The project amplifies Global South voices and fosters sustainable, evidence-based EdTech innovation.

SHINE: Sustainable Hub for Innovative e-Mobility Education
This collaboration between King’s College London and Tecnológico de Monterrey aims to develop a virtual learning platform for e-mobility education. MOCHILA: Microcredentials in Higher Education for Latin America and the Caribbean - Mexico, Dominican Republic, Chile, and Guatemala
MOCHILA seeks to strengthen the capacities of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) to design and issue digital micro-credentials in response to the growing labor market demands for retraining and professional development, especially in areas such as engineering, health, and entrepreneurship.

EcoEmprende: Driving SMEs Toward Sustainability and Innovation
This project involves developing a specialized training program for MSME staff in Mexico City (1,000 people) to foster entrepreneurial skills and generate innovative ideas. The program focuses on equipping participants with tools and knowledge to drive sustainable development and increase their capacity to adapt to climate change in alignment with the objectives of the 2018-2024 National Development Plan.

CTE4A – Education for Complex Thinking for All: A digital center and school for lifelong learners
The CTE4A project aims to create a digital collaborative hub to train lifelong learners in complex thinking skills, such as scientific, critical, systemic, innovative, and computational thinking. It offers an openaccess platform that uses AI, Open Educational Resources (OERs), and immersive learning technologies to provide personalized learning experiences. The CTE4A Digital Hub will serve as a repository for OERs and cater to learners from academia, industry, civil society, and government. A key feature is the integration of micro-credentials and certifications aligned with the CONOCER Competence Standard, ensuring formal recognition of acquired skills.

Exploring Online Learning in VR-Supported STEM Laboratories
This project aims to develop immersive laboratory experiences in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) using virtual reality and real-time reconstructed avatars that foster personalized learning, increased engagement, team communication, enjoyment, collaborative planning, group self-efficacy, and accessibility. These experiences will allow for a comprehensive evaluation of student outcomes compared to traditional laboratory environments.

Este proyecto, que involucra universidades de multiples países, tiene como objetivo desarrollar un marco dinámico y adaptable para comprender y anticipar las habilidades del futuro requeridas en el mercado laboral de la Industria 4.0. El proyecto busca crear un modelo receptivo que evolucione con los avances tecnológicos y las condiciones económicas cambiantes, mediante investigación interdisciplinaria que integra conocimientos de tecnología educativa, inteligencia artificial y análisis del mercado laboral. Este modelo dinámico facilita el aprendizaje continuo y el desarrollo de habilidades, lo cual es fundamental para responder al ritmo acelerado de cambio en las necesidades de la industria.

Educación Maker & STEM: Igualdad de acceso a pedagogías progresivas para impulsar el desarrollo STEM para todas las mujeres
Este proyecto desarrolla y evalúa un ecosistema integrado de aprendizaje, mentoría y colaboración basado en la optimización de la educación Maker en América Latina. El objetivo principal es promover la participación y el empoderamiento de las mujeres en disciplinas STEM. Este enfoque busca aumentar la inclusión de las mujeres en el ámbito laboral STEM y mejorar su progreso y desarrollo profesional en estos campos.

SHINE: Centro sostenible para la educación innovadora en electromovilidad
Esta colaboración entre King’s College London y el Tecnológico de Monterrey tiene como objetivo desarrollar una Plataforma de aprendizaje virtual para la educación en electromovilidad. Busca cerrar la brecha de habilidades en México y el Reino Unido, promoviendo soluciones de movilidad sostenibles.

MOCHILA: Microcredenciales en educación superior para América Latina y el Caribe - México, República Dominicana, Chile y Guatemala
MOCHILA busca fortalecer las capacidades de las Instituciones de Educación Superior (IES) en América Latina y el Caribe (ALC) para diseñar y emitir microcredenciales digitales en respuesta a la creciente demanda del mercado laboral de actualización profesional y desarrollo, especialmente en áreas como ingeniería, salud y emprendimiento.

EcoEmprende: Impulsando las PYMES hacia la sostenibilidad y la innovación
Este proyecto implica el desarrollo de un programa de capacitación especializado para el personal de MiPyMEs en la Ciudad de México (1,000 personas) para fomentar habilidades emprendedoras y generar ideas innovadoras. El programa se centra en dotar a los participantes de herramientas y conocimientos para impulsar el desarrollo sostenible y aumentar su capacidad de adaptación al cambio climático, en alineación con los objetivos del Plan Nacional de Desarrollo 2018-2024.

Educación para el pensamiento complejo para todos (CTE4A): Un centro digital y escuela para aprendedores
El proyecto CTE4A tiene como objetivo crear un centro colaborativo digital para capacitar a aprendedores de por vida en habilidades de pensamiento complejo, como pensamiento científico, crítico,sistémico, innovador y computacional. Explorando el aprendizaje en línea en laboratorios STEM con soporte de realidad virtual
Este proyecto tiene como objetivo desarrollar experiencias de laboratorio inmersivas en ciencia, tecnología, ingeniería y matemáticas (STEM) utilizando realidad virtual y avatares reconstruidos en tiempo real que fomenten el aprendizaje personalizado, mayor compromiso, comunicación en equipo, disfrute, planificación colaborativa, autoeficacia grupal y accesibilidad. Estas experiencias permitirán una evaluación integral de los resultados estudiantiles en comparación con entornos de laboratorio tradicionales.

The IFE Impact Reports present a summary of the achievements of all initiatives undertaken by the Institute for the Future of Education over a one-year period. Through a diverse portfolio of initiatives, the Institute engages in partnerships with academia, industry experts, policymakers, and visionary leaders to shape the future of the educational landscape.
This report is structured into four key sections:
Interdisciplinary Research: Through its initiatives, the Institute promotes a research culture that addresses educational challenges through interdisciplinary collaborations and knowledge sharing. Its approach involves designing research projects aligned with educational goals, collecting and analyzing data, and collaborating with other researchers and educators to improve teaching practices and learning outcomes.
Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer: These initiatives aim to strengthen the EdTech ecosystem through programs, awards, and networking events, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange. They also encourage the generation of intellectual property and technology transfer, all to transform education through technological entrepreneurship.
Impact Projects and Consulting: Through these initiatives, the Institute also promotes job mobility by equipping individuals with a suitable skill set to access better opportunities and improve their quality of life. Additionally, it offers consulting services focused primarily on designing and implementing new educational models.
Dissemination and Community Building: These initiatives drive a culture of educational innovation, impacting the educational ecosystem through open resources and content. They also create and strengthen educational communities to foster collaboration and idea exchange, ultimately generating a positive impact on society.
