About us

R4C-IRG Interdisciplinary Research Group and Educational Technology:
Scaling Complex Thinking for All

Description of the R4C & TE Group

The R4C & TE Group (Reasoning for Complexity & Technology in Education Research Unit) is dedicated to generating innovative educational solutions that address current and future social and environmental challenges. Its work integrates emerging technologies—such as artificial intelligence, data science, learning analytics, extended realities, and simulation systems—into face-to-face, distance, blended, mobile, and multimodal learning settings, with the aim of improving learning outcomes and fostering a more inclusive, diverse, and sustainable education at a global level.

Through interdisciplinary collaboration with academic networks and projects based on the quintuple helix model (university, industry, government, civil society, and environment), the group promotes the construction of open research ecosystems that contribute to Education 5.0. Its mission is to train highly competitive professionals, committed to society, and capable of leading innovation and digital transformation processes aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals of UNESCO’s 2030 Agenda.

Interdisciplinary Research Group Reasoning for Complexity
The R4C-IRG method is based on an Open Collaborative Network Model

Objective

To scale mastery levels in reasoning for complexity, computational thinking, and other life competencies (entrepreneurship, self-regulated learning) in higher education students and the labor market through the design, experimentation, and implementation of educational models mediated by open and emerging technologies. These models seek to:

  • Foster a holistic education that addresses cognitive, socio-emotional, ethical, and academic dimensions.
  • Promote motivation and engagement to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Develop and scale high-impact educational solutions, based on research, open science, and intersectoral collaboration.
