Overview
Dr. Manish Kumar serves as a full-time Distinguished Professor at Tecnológico de Monterrey. Previously, he directed the Sustainability Cluster within the School of Advanced Engineering at UPES in Dehradun, India, and held faculty positions at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar in Gujarat and Tezpur University in Assam. He is a fellow of prominent organizations, such as the Royal Society of Chemistry in the UK, the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), the Biotech Research Society, India (BRSI), and the Indo-U.S. Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF). His research is on elucidating, expanding, and developing multiple aspects of the fate, transport, and remediation of geogenic, microbial, and emerging contaminants in water.
He has authored more than 250 SCI/SCIE articles, which have collectively been cited over 13,000 times. With an h-index exceeding 60 and an i10 index surpassing 200, Manish Kumar has been recognized among the top 2% of researchers globally, as published by Elsevier based on the ranking algorithm from Stanford University.
His academic and research training encompasses institutions in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. He led the team that was the first to identify the SARS-CoV-2 gene in Indian wastewater. He served on the expert panel on antimicrobial resistance for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and led projects funded by organizations like UKIERI, UNICEF, and the Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN). His research has been featured in the EU newsletters, WHO reports, and the U.S. EPA research calls. He provides editorial services to journals such as Elsevier and Springer.
Manish Kumar joined Tecnológico de Monterrey as a Distinguished Professor in Water Science for the School of Engineering and Sciences.
