The Monterrey International Book Fair

The Monterrey International Book Fair (known by its initials in Spanish as FILMTY) was born in 1989 as an initiative of professors and students of Tecnológico de Monterrey who were convinced that books should hold a central place in the life of both the university and the city.
The first edition was held in the parking lot of Campus Monterrey and marked the beginning of a tradition that has become a cultural landmark for Northern Mexico.
For over three decades, FILMTY has grown steadily, consolidating itself as the most important publishing and literary gathering in the region, attracting over 355,000 visitors in its last edition, an increase of more than 12% compared to the previous year. The Fair continues to strengthen the bond between books and the community, bringing together more than 160 exhibitors, 585 cultural activities, and over 800 participants, including authors, moderators, and reading advocates.
Its mission is to create a space where great voices of both international and regional literature can converge with new generations of writers to foster dialogue, reading, and critical thinking.
Under the coordination of the School of Humanities and Education of the Tecnológico de Monterrey, FILMTY has attracted coverage from over 150 media outlets with national and international reach and the participation of journalists from across Hispanic America, reaffirming its commitment to expanding access to written culture, strengthening the publishing industry, and projecting Monterrey as a city where the book continues to shape and articulate public life.
