Overview
Dr. Frank Loge is currently professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and director of the Center for Water-Energy Efficiency at the University of California Davis (UC Davis). He has served as a Ray B. Krone Endowed Professor at UC Davis; Endowed Professor of Circular Economy at the Tecnológico de Monterrey; faculty advisor of the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon; member of the Board of Directors of the Alliance for Water Efficiency in Chicago; member of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Science Advisory Board; and member of the California Governor Newsom’s Water Resilience Initiative Portfolio.
Specific projects with the Tecnológico de Monterrey currently focus on improving operations of potable water systems to reduce water loss, save energy, enable renewable energy integration, and improve the quality of water, as well as the promotion of water recycling and reuse in agriculture to improve sustainability and resiliency, and to protect public health. He also teaches a class on building sustainable water systems each summer.
He has worked on projects such as a multi-community intervention using UV light disinfection for estimating the risk of gastrointestinal illness from drinking groundwater for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and an environmentally benign manufacturing process using renewable biopolymers to produce natural fiber-reinforced thermoplastic composites for the National Science Foundation (NSF), among others.
Frank Loge joined Tecnológico de Monterrey as a Distinguished Visiting Professor in Water Science for the School of Engineering and Sciences.
