Digital Humanities

About the Group

The following subgroups comprise this research group: Data Feminism; Cultural Analytics; Data Science for the Humanities; Applications of Computer Science; Communication, Discourse, and Culture; Hypertextuality and Intertextuality.

Its axis of study is the historical, hermeneutic, philological, and digital processes that accompany the text, adding data sciences to traditional methods of interpretation to generate new approaches and knowledge. Thus, it subscribes to the studies of written culture and cultural heritage, including transversal dimensions such as ethics and the gender perspective.

Sobre el Grupo

Cuenta con los siguientes subgrupos: Feminismo de Datos; Analítica de la Cultura; Ciencias de Datos para las Humanidades; Aplicaciones de las Ciencias Computacionales; Comunicación, Discurso y Cultura; Hipertextualidad e Intertextualidad.

Tiene como eje de estudio los procesos de carácter histórico, hermenéutico, filológico y digital que acompañan al texto, agregando las ciencias de datos a los métodos tradicionales de interpretación para generar así nuevos enfoques y conocimientos. De esta manera se abona a los estudios de la cultura escrita y el patrimonio cultural, incluyendo además dimensiones transversales como la ética y la perspectiva de género.

Estefanía Oseguera - Outliers

Hi, my name is Estefanía Oseguera and I am a member of the second Mexican team to participate in the Mars Desert Research Station. I want to make history. I chose the new degree in Mechatronics at Tec hoping one day to go to NASA and realize my greatest dream of becoming an astronaut.

I feel that I am capable of achieving great things. I am filled with curiosity about the universe and, with the tools I am acquiring, I can say that I am getting closer and closer to my dream.

I have had the opportunity to form part of AIESEC, a group of young people who aim to create a connection between enterprise and entrepreneurs, which at the time helped me become who I am now.

I have also participated in student groups, such Mi Estado (My State) and Space Makers, where I am right now. The experience I acquired and continue to acquire in these projects gave me the confidence I needed when I received a call from JAXA, the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency. I immediately started raising funds to be able to go and make the most of the 15 days in which professional and student engineers have the opportunity to use the space station. I don’t think this would have been possible if I hadn’t previously developed the skills obtained in the student groups.

After participating in this experience, I began to join in several initiatives, which opened doors for me to work in December this year together with the Mars Desert Research Station. This project will take place in the Utah desert and has to do with a habitat used to simulate a space mission to Mars, where we will learn to work in this type of environment and be able to develop a mission. I am so excited about this.

Since I started at Tec, I have been participating in numerous projects, either related to my degree or the community. During this semester, I have also been growing my skills in the area of marketing for the Mechatronics Congress. I attend Space Makers meetings, go to the gym and also swim.

Since childhood, I developed the ideology that “It can’t be done” does not exist, because my family has never said no to all the wacky things I want to do, and they are always there with me and for me.

Their support has made me realize that I am capable of achieving anything I want and that I can impact other people’s lives through what I do.

I am an outlier because my story begin at Tec and end up changing the world

Hola, soy Estefanía Oseguera y formó parte del segundo equipo mexicano en participar en la Mars Desert Research Station. Quiero hacer historia. Elegí la nueva de Ingeniería en Mecatrónica en el Tec con el anhelo de algún día llegar a NASA y poder realizar mi mayor aspiración que es la de convertirme en astronauta.

Me siento capaz de lograr grandes cosas. La curiosidad del universo me invade y con las herramientas que voy adquiriendo, puedo decir que mi sueño está cada vez más cerca.

He tenido la oportunidad de estudiar mi carrera profesional gracias a la beca de Líderes del Mañana, y pienso aprovecharla al máximo. Durante mi vida estudiantil pude ser parte de AIESEC, un grupo de jóvenes que se dedican a crear conexión entre empresas y emprendedores, lo cual en su momento me ayudó mucho a formarme como soy ahora.

He estado interviniendo también en grupos estudiantiles, como en Space Makers donde estoy actualmente aparte de cursar la carrera de Mecatrónica. La experiencia que adquirí y que sigo adquiriendo de estos proyectos me dieron la seguridad para cuando me llamaron de JAXA, la Agencia Aeroespacial de Japón donde hice una recaudación de capital para lograr irme, y aprovechar los 15 días donde usamos de la estación espacial entre ingenieros graduados y no graduados.

Después de unirme a esta experiencia empecé a participar en varias iniciativas y fue que se me abrieron las puertas para trabajar en diciembre de este año junto a la Mars Desert Research Station. Es un proyecto que se desarrollará en el desierto de Utah y trata de un hábitat que se utiliza para simular lo que sería una misión espacial en Marte donde nosotros debemos aprender a trabajar en este tipo de ambiente y poder desarrollar una misión. Estoy muy emocionada por eso.

Desde que entré al Tec he estado participando en muchos proyectos, ya sea que giren en torno a mi carrera o con la comunidad. Durante este semestre, también estoy desarrollándome en el área de marketing del Congreso de Mecatrónica. Asisto a juntas de Space Makers, voy al gimnasio y estoy en natación.

Desde que era niña he formado la ideología de que el “No se puede” no existe. Porque mi familia nunca me han dicho que no a las locuras que quiero hacer y siempre han estado ahí conmigo y para mí.

Con este apoyo me he dado cuenta de que soy capaz de llegar a donde quiero y saber que puedo impactar la vida de otras personas a través de lo que yo hago.

Soy una Outlier porque mi historia comienza en el Tec y termina cambiando el mundo.

Democracy and Global Affairs

About the Group

Mexico has been building scaffolding to strengthen democracy. The creation of autonomous bodies is proof. Voter turnout increased thanks partly and significantly to the existence of the Autonomous Institute, the INE, which has organized and monitored the electoral process. Challenges remain, and even risks of backsliding, for which it is necessary to refine the country's institutions. Another danger undermining democracy is widespread corruption in many areas of public and private life in the country.

However, these challenges are not exclusive to Mexico; they are framed in complex and uncertain international contexts. Democratic regimes are threatened not only by internal contradictions and weaknesses, as in Mexico, but also by changes in the world order, the return of geopolitical rivalry among world powers, growing populism (both left and right), deglobalization, and the strengthening of authoritarian models and governments throughout the planet. In this context, the School designed the Democracy and Global Affairs Research Group to comprehensively analyze what an effective and credible democracy requires, considering internal and external factors.

In this way, the group generates activities that impact the elaboration of proposals for designing mechanisms and incentives to strengthen democracy while providing a reflective, critical look at the relationship between national and international affairs to consolidate a full democracy in Mexico.

Democracia y Asuntos Globales

Sobre el Grupo

México ha ido construyendo un andamiaje para fortalecer la democracia. La creación de órganos autónomos es una prueba de ello. La participación electoral se incrementó de manera importante gracias, en parte, a la existencia de un Instituto Autónomo, el INE, que ha organizado y vigilado el proceso electoral. Persisten retos, e incluso riesgos de retroceso, para lo cual es necesario refinar las instituciones del país. Otro de los peligros que mina la democracia es la existencia de una corrupción extendida en muchos ámbitos de la vida pública y privada del país.

Sin embargo, estos desafíos no se presentan de manera aislada al interior de nuestra nación, sino que se enmarcan en un contexto internacional complejo e incierto. Los regímenes democráticos son cuestionados no solamente por las contradicciones y debilidades internas, como sucede en México, sino también por los cambios en el orden mundial, el retorno de la rivalidad geopolítica entre las potencias mundiales, el creciente populismo tanto de orientación de izquierda o de derecha, los procesos de desglobalización y el fortalecimiento de modelos y gobiernos autoritarios en el planeta. En este contexto, la Escuela diseñó el Grupo de Investigación Democracia y Asuntos Globales para contribuir al análisis riguroso de lo que implica una democracia efectiva y creíble considerando tanto factores internos como externos.

De esta manera, el grupo genera actividades que impactan en la elaboración de propuestas para el diseño de los mecanismos e incentivos para fortalecer la democracia aportando, al mismo tiempo, una mirada crítica reflexiva sobre la relación entre los asuntos nacionales e internacionales para la consolidación de una democracia plena en México.

About the Group

Characterize the cellular and molecular mechanisms that contribute to the development of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases to propose and evaluate new experimental therapies for prevention and treatment in preclinical models, which will lay the scientific basis for conducting clinical studies with patients

Sobre el Grupo

Caracterizar los mecanismos celulares y moleculares que contribuyen al desarrollo de enfermedades cardiovasculares y metabólicas para proponer y evaluar nuevas terapias experimentales de prevención y tratamiento en modelos preclínicos, que sentarán las bases científicas para la conducción de estudios clínicos con pacientes.
