Overview

Dr. Frank Loge is currently Professor at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Director of the Center for Water Energy Efficiency, and member of the Secure Research Commuting Environment in the University of California Davis (UC Davis). In addition, he is member of the Board of Directors of the Alliance for Water Efficiency in Chicago and former member of the Governor Newsom’s Water Resilience Initiative Portfolio, from the Governor’s Office in Sacramento, California.

His research involves green engineering and environmental sustainability with a focus on water, waste, energy, and built environment systems; risk analysis of engineered and natural systems focusing on water and health relationships; water and energy conservation, and resource use efficiency.

Dr. Loge is working on biomarkers of exposure to hazardous substances for the National Institute of Health and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences Superfund Research Center (US). In addition, he has worked on projects such as a multi-community intervention with UV light disinfection for estimating the risk of gastrointestinal illness from drinking groundwater for the US Environmental Protection Agency, and an environmentally benign manufacturing process utilizing renewable biopolymers to manufacture natural fiber reinforced thermoplastic composites for the National Science Foundation (US), among others.

Professor Loge has over 100 publications on subjects related to leak reduction and water management; water distribution system optimization; utility-specific water loss reduction standards, to name a few, on publications such as Environmental Research Letters; Journal of Water Resources Planning and Management; 2021 IEEE Visualization (conference paper), among others. 

Dr. Loge has been awarded the US Department of Energy Solar Decathlon Award (2015 & 2017); the Ray B. Krone Endowed Professorship of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, at University of California Davis (2013 - present); he has also won the People Prosperity and Planet (P3) Award five times from 2007 to 2012 in several categories and has also been recognized by the National Science Foundation with the CAREER Award (2001-2006).

Professor Frank Loge joined Tecnológico de Monterrey as Distinguished Visiting Professor in Water Science for the School of Engineering and Sciences.

Overview

Overview

Dr. Manish Kumar serves as a full-time Distinguished Professor at Tecnológico de Monterrey. Previously, he directed the Sustainability Cluster within the School of Advanced Engineering at UPES in Dehradun, India, and held faculty positions at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Gandhinagar in Gujarat and Tezpur University in Assam. He is a fellow of prominent organizations, such as the Royal Society of Chemistry in the UK, the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), the Biotech Research Society, India (BRSI), and the Indo-U.S. Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF). His research is on elucidating, expanding, and developing multiple aspects of the fate, transport, and remediation of geogenic, microbial, and emerging contaminants in water.

He has authored more than 250 SCI/SCIE articles, which have collectively been cited over 13,000 times. With an h-index exceeding 60 and an i10 index surpassing 200, Manish Kumar has been recognized among the top 2% of researchers globally, as published by Elsevier based on the ranking algorithm from Stanford University.

His academic and research training encompasses institutions in the U.S., Europe, and Asia. He led the team that was the first to identify the SARS-CoV-2 gene in Indian wastewater. He served on the expert panel on antimicrobial resistance for the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and led projects funded by organizations like UKIERI, UNICEF, and the Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN). His research has been featured in the EU newsletters, WHO reports, and the U.S. EPA research calls. He provides editorial services to journals such as Elsevier and Springer.
