Overview

Dr. Alejandro Madrigal began his medical studies at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and continued his training at some of the world’s top universities. He is currently a Professor of Hematology at UCL, a Faculty of Excellence professor at the Tecnológico de Monterrey, and a Professor Emeritus of the National System of Researchers in Mexico. He was an Honorary Affiliated Physician at the Royal Free Hospital (UK) and UCL Cancer Institute.

He founded and served as the first scientific director of the Anthony Nolan Research Institute in London, which supports people with blood cancer or disorders. He has trained numerous doctors and scientists and has developed multiple Registers for Unrelated Stem Cell Donors (USCD) and cord blood collection centers. His research focuses on how to improve immunotherapy and stem cell transplantation to make cancer cell therapy more accessible, particularly for minorities. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences and a member of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) and holds honorary memberships in the National Academy of Medicine (Mexico) and the Mexican Academy of Sciences.

He has secured multiple grants and has funded students and researchers. He has published over 570 papers, with more than 17,000 citations in journals like Nature and The Lancet. In 2023, he received the Carlos Slim Health Award for Lifetime Achievement in Research for his work on health issues in Latin America. He also holds four honorary doctorates and was appointed an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) by Queen Elizabeth II in 2022.

Alejandro Madrigal joined Tecnológico de Monterrey as a FEMSA Distinguished Professor in Hematology and Cellular Therapy for the School of Medicine and Health Sciences.

Overview

Under the premise that “animation is the greatest form of visual storytelling,” Travis Blaise co-founded the SketchToAnimate initiative, where he is also the director of the upcoming ARC series and instructor. Through that platform, he has created workshops, tutorials, and online classes covering character design, animation, storyboarding, and building an animation portfolio.

In 2008, he was an adjunct professor for an experimental 2D animation class at CalArts (California, U.S.). From 2017 to 2021, he was a mentor, instructor, and adjunct professor at DigiPen Studios, training students in animation and storyboarding. His latest work was as a storyboard artist on the movie Mufasa (2024).

With over 34 years of experience, Travis Blaise has participated in a wide range of movies and TV shows throughout his career in storyboard artistry, including Disenchantment (2021), Big Mouth (2017), Disney’s Penn Zero (2014), and his animation work with Brother Bear (2003), Lilo & Stitch (2002), Mulan (1998), and The Lion King (1994). He worked for Disney from 1990 to 2004, where he served as an in-between artist and animator in films and video games. After his time at Disney, he worked for studios such as Cartoon Network, The Walt Disney Company, Nickelodeon Animation Studio, Netflix, and Warner Bros.

He is a global lecturer and speaker on the production of digital art, animation, and storytelling projects at CalArts, DigiPen, Toon Boom, Wacom, Disney, the Orlando Museum of Art, the Annecy Festival, and the Bangkok Comic Con, to name a few.

Overview

Dr. Luis Sobrevia is a Cellular and Molecular Physiology professor at the Department of Obstetrics in the Faculty of Medicine at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC) in Chile. He is also Honorary Professor at the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences of the University of Queensland in Australia, at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the Universidad de Sevilla in Spain, and the Medical School (Faculty of Medicine) of the São Paulo State University (UNESP) in Brazil, and visiting professor of Pathology and Medical Biology at the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) of the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. 

Professor Sobrevia is Fellow of The Physiological Society (FTPS) in the UK, Fellow of the International Union of Physiological Science (FIUPS), Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine (UK), member of the Latin America Academy of Sciences (ACAL), and chair of the Regional Focal Point for Latin America and the Caribbean of the International Science Council. 

His current research focuses on the role of nucleosides and amino acids in abnormal foetal endothelial and vascular function in gestational diabesity, gestational diabetes mellitus, preeclampsia, and intrauterine growth restriction.

Luis Sobrevia joined Tecnológico de Monterrey as Distinguished University Professor in Molecular Physiology and Medicine for the Institute for Obesity Research and the School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
