In order to promote internationalization and provide opportunities that will contribute to students’ academic, professional and personal development, the Garza Lagüera Gonda Family and Tecnológico de Monterrey offer financial aid scholarships to enable more students to benefit from an international academic experience during their undergraduate studies.

  • Undergraduate students from any academic program and from any of Tecnológico de Monterrey’s 26 campuses.
  • Students who, owing to their financial situation, have not been able to take part in a study abroad experience.
  • Support with travelling, accommodation, health insurance, visa and meal expenses abroad during the semester of the international experience in academic programs classified within the top 300 in the world, according to the international QS ranking.
  • There are three categories of aid. Each category corresponds to an expenditure range calculated according to the cost of living. Each category receives a specific number of scholarships, as per the following table:

Each group is allocated a specific number of scholarships. If the total number of scholarships is not used owing to a lack of eligible candidates for one of the groups, the remaining scholarships will be added to the next group and so forth until all the scholarships have been allocated, as long as there are candidates who comply with the established requirements and profile.

All applications are evaluated by an Evaluation Committee comprised of five people appointed by the Office of the Internationalization Vice Rector and the Vice Presidency for Relations and Development, who review each application that meets all the requirements. The Evaluation Committee designates the scholarship-winning applicants according to the guidelines presented in this call and sends the list of winners on April 3, 2020, through the official email account of Tecnológico de Monterrey and posts the list on this space.

  • Be enrolled with regular standing at a Tecnológico de Monterrey campus during the February-June 2020 semester.
  • Have a minimum cumulative grade average greater than or equal to 95.
  • Have a socioeconomic scholarship from Tecnológico de Monterrey of 50% or more.
  • Be studying sixth semester or higher.
  • Not have studied during their undergraduate degree a complete period (summer, winter or semester) abroad.
  • Not have been placed on academic or disciplinary probation.
  • Be assigned to an international EXCHANGE in an academic program classified in the TOP 300 of the QS Global Ranking. The process must be completed in full and as indicated by the Office of International Programs of the corresponding campus.
  • Be accepted by the university and obtain the letter of acceptance.
  • Résumé. Free format.
  • Student’s transcript or Hoja FAM.
  • Digital copy of the socioeconomic scholarship receipt.
  • Copy of the email on the assignment of the opportunity, sent by CSC-PI.
  • Brief, concise Statement of Purpose (no more than one page) that answers the following questions:
  1. Why do you deserve to be awarded this scholarship?
  2. Why did you choose the university where you will complete tour international experience?
  3. How will you pay back to the community the benefit obtained from this scholarship?

Once the materials have been compiled in the aforementioned order, you should complete your electronic registration, attaching the aforementioned materials in a PDF file no larger than 5MB.

The evaluation committee selects the winners, and its decision is final. Once the results have been published, the scholarship funds will be delivered upon presentation of the digital copy of the letter of acceptance from the receiving university abroad.
All winners undertake to:

  • Participate in the meeting scheduled with members of the Garza Lagüera Gonda Family on the date and time designed by the Evaluation Committee. Winning students who do not live in Monterrey can participate virtually via videoconference.
  • Submit their testimonial of the international experience in writing and illustrated with relevant photographs. The formats and characteristics of these documents will be given to each winner together with the scholarship funds.

Congratulations to the winners and many thanks to everyone who participated in this call. During the day, ALL students who submitted an application will be receiving an email with their results and follow-up on the delivery of the scholarship, where applicable. Please check the email you registered in your application.

I don’t meet the requirements. Can I still participate? 
No. If you don’t meet all the stipulated requirements in full and any documents are missing from the application materials, your application will automatically be rejected.
What expenses does the scholarship cover?
The amount allocated in each category can be used to cover expenses related to plane tickets, visas, land transportation, meals, accommodation and international insurance. Tuition fees must be paid by following the usual enrollment processes and in accordance with the corresponding socioeconomic scholarship in each case.
What amount will I receive if I am a winner?
There are three categories of financial aid, each one covers a specific set of countries where the universities on the aforementioned QS list are located. The amount you receive, if you are a beneficiary of the scholarship fund, will depend on the location of the university or campus to which you have been assigned. Any queries will be resolved by the Evaluation Committee.
The university I am interested in is not included in the International Programs list. Can I participate?
No. You can only participate by applying to an exchange program offered in February 2020 that is available for August-December 2020.
The university to which I am applying is not among the QS TOP 300. Can I participate?
No. Only programs from the list of the TOP 300 academic programs in the QS ranking participate. Your application will be assessed by the Evaluation Committee according to diverse parameters in place for distinguishing the best candidates for the scholarship award. Compliance with all the requirements is indispensable for applications, but does not ensure that you will obtain the scholarship since you will be competing against many other applicants.N
The university to which I am applying is not among the QS TOP 300. Can I participate?
No. Only programs from the list of the TOP 300 academic programs in the QS ranking participate.
