Educational Artificial Intelligence Strategy

At Tec de Monterrey, we use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to transform the way we teach and learn. This includes the use of virtual assistants, adaptive assessments, and data analytics to personalize the educational experience. Our focus is on exploring, implementing, and evaluating AI tools that help teachers create more meaningful experiences for their students. This is achieved by adapting or transforming teaching strategies and integrating AI into their disciplines, which also better prepares them for their professional fields. In this way, we ensure that learning becomes more dynamic and tailored to each student’s needs.

For this reason, we aim to equip students with key AI-related skills, both general and specific to their fields of study, so they are ready for a world where this technology is increasingly relevant. This ensures our students graduate prepared to tackle the challenges of today’s workforce, equipped with the skills needed to excel in a future shaped by technology. Furthermore, integrating AI into education represents a significant shift that impacts various areas of knowledge, inviting us to reflect on the ethical challenges that come with its implementation.

To achieve this, it is essential to prepare and support teachers. Our strategy includes training activities, exploration spaces, and innovation initiatives that allow them to familiarize themselves with AI tools and design learning experiences integrated with these technologies. We offer a wide range of training options, from introductory courses to learn how to use AI, to specialized boot camps. With these tools, we support teachers in designing innovative approaches they can implement in their classes.

AI and our teachers

Integrating AI into teaching and learning presents an opportunity for faculty to innovate and transform their teaching practices. The goal is to prepare students for their professional futures, address their personalized learning needs and interests, and optimize teachers’ time. To ensure effective use of AI, faculty undergo continuous training.

Through the Center for Faculty Development and Educational Innovation (CEDDIE), Tec de Monterrey supports teachers in integrating AI into their teaching practices. Practical resources, webinars, expert talks, workshops, hackathons, summits, and other events are provided to foster the development of competencies and tools needed to design learning experiences.

In summary, CEDDIE focuses on advising, supporting, and training teachers in the strategic use of AI, concentrating on three main areas:

  1. Integrating artificial intelligence into the design of learning experiences.
  2. Through teachers, developing AI-related competencies in students for their fields of study.
  3. Encouraging creative ideas that improve various aspects of the educational process using this technology.

AI Summit: Faculty projects

As part of Tec de Monterrey's efforts to support and train its teaching community in the strategic use of artificial intelligence, the AI Summit is a key event designed to create practical solutions that address real educational needs using AI tools.

In the 2024 edition, 180 innovative and dedicated teachers participated, presenting projects that integrated these tools into teaching activities and learning sequences, thereby improving instruction and enriching classroom learning experiences.

These projects are carefully implemented in classes to measure their impact on student learning, and the results obtained are used to design new AI-based educational tools and strategies.

The event projects focused on areas such as:

  • Tool application
  • Evaluation and feedback
  • Development of disciplinary competencies
  • Personalized learning and tutoring
  • Simulations and immersive environments

All of this is carried out while ensuring the responsible use of technology.

TECgpt
Skill Studio
ChatGPT

For our Tec de Monterrey community, we have developed TECgpt, an ecosystem of generative AI tools like ChatGPT and Skill Studio that enables the creation of purpose-specific models. These models can be used directly or integrated into other tools, all within a private, secure, managed, and customizable environment designed exclusively for our institution.

Skill Studio is an AI tool created by Tec de Monterrey as part of TECgpt, designed to simplify the setup and reuse of prompts. Essentially, it allows users to create "skills" with predefined variables, making it easier and faster to generate standardized and automatable tasks for both educational and administrative purposes. Once created, these "skills" can be shared as templates for institutional use, saving time and improving efficiency for those who use them.

Examples of "skills" already developed include: "Create a problem-based scenario," "Design a challenge," "Plan the strategy for your educational unit," and "Create a learning activity." These tools serve as starting points, leaving it up to the teacher to verify and adjust the results according to their specific needs.

So far, more than 800 "skills" have been developed, focusing on areas such as content design, evaluation, and adapting strategies to specific contexts. Examples include Python calculations, evaluation reports, character creation for scripts, and concept generation based on storytelling. Skill Studio is available to all Tec de Monterrey faculty and staff who request access.

Within the ecosystem of TECgpt tools, we also have an institutional chatbot that allows teachers and staff to interact with one of the most advanced AI models through a simple and user-friendly interface.

Users can ask questions via text or voice, solve doubts, upload documents to interact with them, and even generate images. All of this takes place in a safe and controlled environment, without worrying about data privacy, as it is not used to train future models.

Adaptive Learning at Tec de Monterrey

Adaptive Learning at Tec de Monterrey

At Tec de Monterrey, we use adaptive learning strategies to personalize education. This involves applying modern teaching methods, data analytics, and advanced AI algorithms to design customized learning paths for each student. This approach makes their educational process more effective and efficient by taking into account their level, profile, and specific needs.

Additionally, this strategy allows teachers to identify areas where their groups may be struggling, enabling them to adjust their teaching methods, improve student performance, and optimize overall outcomes.

This tool is part of our initiative to ensure student success, helping them level up their knowledge from the start of their academic program, especially in STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), which are often crucial during the early stages of their education

Herramientas

TECgpt
Skill Studio
ChatGPT

Put together your file with everything that makes you unique

The resumé contains questions on the achievements, skills and aptitudes you have acquired and developed throughout your middle school studies. Include your participations in every area, since any achievements in each face-to-face or online discipline you have accomplished since 2017 to date will help you put together an extraordinary resumé. It is important to have evidence of the activities described, since we may ask you to share it with us from time to time.

Hand in your admission documents

Complete your admission file in digital form by sending your documents in the Documentos digitales section inside the admission process page.

Afterwards, scan and send the following documents to admisiones.extranjeros@itesm.mx:

Schedule and take your tests

Aptitude Test (PA)
The Admissions Committee will determine whether you need to take the test and let you know by email. This test evaluates your mathematics and verbal skills. Since the test is an element that forms part of your admission file, the score obtained is for the internal and exclusive use of the Admissions Committee.
You will receive an email with clear, detailed instructions on taking the test.

We have different tools for you in order to prepare for the PAA

PruebaT: it is a diagnostic test that will help you become familiar with the structure and type of questions of the PAA (you have 3 opportunities to use the simulator).

PrepáraTec: is an online workshop that you can take at your own pace. Go to: admision.tec.mx/PreparaTec

On-campus workshops: these are workshops offered on the campus of your choice. Ask your admissions advisor for details.
